The real hub of the Kyodo Golf Content Management System is the Control Panel that allows you to carry out tasks as detailed on this page. One of the main features of the system allows you to update and edit the content of your website pages. You can edit the text, upload and include your own photographs and images with any amendments you make being reflected on your website instantly. During the development stage of a project, we'll discuss your needs with you and construct the Control Panel and website accordingly, adding every page you require to the system and database that holds the page data.
We've found the majority of Content Management Systems on the market today offer control and features where it just isn't beneficial. They are often difficult to use and produce a tangled, outdated mess of code that is difficult to update or correctly style in the future. Without quality support and guidance, users often create page content using many contrasting typeface styles, in too many colours with bold, italic and underlined text in abundance displayed at many different sizes. This invariably leads to extremely poor page layout and a 'playschool' feel to what should be a polished and well presented website. Our system gives you flexibility in use, whilst retaining consistency in design to encourage a professional and purposeful style.
As well as controlling the page content throughout your website, we also give you the facility to update each pages 'META' information. This is information that you do not see in your actual pages, but is placed in the code of the website and is beneficial to you in several ways. You can update the title of each page (as can be seen in the top bar of your browser window), and you can also give each page a meaningful description. Both of these pieces of information are used alongside your page content by search engines to correctly index your website and increase its visibility. Working alongside this information are page keywords. Again, visitors do not see these displayed on your pages but they are used by many search engines to figure out what your website is all about. By using the META input facility, you can increase your website's search engine ranking, visibility to potential visitors and steer more traffic to your website. As with all aspects of the Kyodo Golf Control Panel, we are always happy to give good advice and guidance on every facility offered.
This information would typically be displayed on your home page but could be placed into a different navigation menu.
Via the Control Panel you can add information on the current course conditions onto your website. Perhaps you may wish to cover the weather or ground conditions, perhaps course maintenance or something unforeseen. This is a handy tool to keep your website right up to date for your members and visitors.
The Control Panel offers you a choice on how this information is handled by the website. As a website administrator, you can select to display the information until further amendment, or select to sisplay the information for the current day only.
The news system allows you to add, edit and delete news items that appear on your website. The most common usage of the news system is outlined below.
This feature can be quite versatile. We can place the most recent headlines onto the home page of your website, each linking to the relevant article and the full news archive, usually a separate page accessible from a menu. If you choose to display some news headlines on your home page and a user clicks one, it opens the full news archive but with the chosen article listed first on the page.
The fixture facility allows you to add, edit and delete fixtures and events to be displayed in your website calendar. Add the fixture name and date, with optional fields containing the time and additional information if required. These are added to the main fixture page of the website with any fixture for the current day highlighted within the list for the month. A visitor will be presented with the current month with the current days fixture highlighted (should there be one), along with navigation buttons to move backwards or forwards through the year or select another month to view with a single click of the mouse.
As with the latest news headlines and/or current conditions, we can compile your homepage to display the current days fixture alongside news and conditions information, making your homepage an ever changing source of current information.
This feature allows you to add, edit and delete social events displayed in your website. Add the event name and date, with optional fields containing the time and additional information if required. You can include information on entertainment, or perhaps pricing and menus. These are added to the main social event page of the website with any listing for the current day highlighted at the top of the list for the month. As with the fixture page, your website visitors will be presented with the current month with the current days event highlighted (should there be one), along with navigation buttons to move backwards or forwards through the year.
Professional Shop and Services Edit facility
The Professional page of your website may be edited just like any other. The main difference being the way it's incorporated into the Control Panel. It is kept seperate from the other pages so if you'd like to allow your club Professional to update his own page content to keep it as current as possible, you can set his access rights for the Control Panel to give him access to this section only. Once logged in, he'll be able to edit the page content with news of any offers and equipment, lessons, fees and upload photographs where required. For a brief explanation about managing Control Panel access rights, please see the section about Managing your Users. For more information on the editing facilities, see Control your Content.
A Member Area allowing you to post restricted content
Your website may contain a private member area, accessible to authorised users who have previously been issued a username and password to gain access. This area can be edited just as any other page via the Control Panel and will be live on your website.
Members are added using the Control Panel, where you add their name, email address and enter a unique username and password for them. Upon saving the entry to the database, an automated email delivers the login details to the new website member using the email address you entered. This eliminates the need for having to pass on these details, saving both time and potential postage costs.
In our experience people sometimes forget or misplace their username and password, so we added a useful function to the Control Panel to make the re-issuing of user details as quick as possible. Should any member forget their login details and request that you provide them, you can simply select the member by name in the Control Panel, then generate an automated email containing the login information, delivering it to the member's email address.
You can upload documents for inclusion to the member area as detailed in the next section. Why not add competition results, event information, entry forms, player handicaps or next years fixture list. Ultimately the choice is yours.
Upload documents in Microsoft Word or PDF format
The Control Panel allows you to upload documents to your website member area, allowing you to create a valuable resource area for your members. As the news facility is partially responsible for keeping site content current for your visitors, the upload feature working alongside the member area is a useful tool for offering your members the documents and information of interest.
You have a delete function for all uploaded documents allowing you to quickly remove unwanted or out-of-date material with just a few clicks of the mouse.
Mailshot system allowing you to format and send newsletters to your members
The Mailshot facility allows you to send an email newsletter to the Website Members currently present in the database. You have the option of adding styling to your email content, it can be formatted with a branded header and footer and you also have the option of adding an attachment to your email in the form of a PDF file or Microsoft Word document.
In our experience we often find that adding a link to a document in your member area rather than adding an attachment will benefit your club website, enticing your members to visit by you creating a valuable resource area.
A fully integrated Help System
The Kyodo Golf Control Panel contains an integrated help system containing full step-by-step instructions for every task you'll face. Wherever you are within the Control Panel, clicking the help button will deliver the necessary documentation you need. The system will analyse your current position and provide relevant task-specific documentation and help for the task at hand.
To compliment the integrated help system, we also provide a comprehensive guidebook to explain each and every feature of the Control Panel. Should you misplace your copy, you can simply download and print the booklet yourself from within your Control Panel.
Image resize and upload facility
This allows you resize and upload photographs from your own computer for use within your website. It's an easy way to take a large digital photograph and reduce its dimensions to make it suitable for inclusion in a page of your site. Many people do not have access to the necessary software to carry out this task and this handy feature bridges the gap between costly software and the Content Management System.
Manage your Users – Access Control
When we first set up your Control Panel, we set up a main Administrator user. We'll call that person 'Admin' for now. An Admin user is able to add other users to the system, thereby allowing them access to the Control panel and the rights to manage content and other facilities. For each new user the Admin user is able to select which areas of the Control Panel they can view and edit. For example, a user may only need access rights to modify current news, or perhaps the fixtures. Maybe you'd like a committee member to update one of these areas without the ability to update page content or upload new documents to the member area. The decision on access rights is entirely yours and designed to offer flexibility and control over the system.
Access and Update Logs. Who changed what, and when
Every time an administrator user logs into the Control Panel, a new entry is added to the access log recording the administrator name, date and time of the login. This data is also recorded each time a website update is performed, the logged information being available for viewing within the Control Panel by top-level administrator users. This reporting facility does not interfere with any actions performed within the Control Panel and is invisible in use. It's sole purpose is to provide you with (if required) a record of how often users access the Control Panel, how often updates are made and most beneficially it offers you a very good indication of just how often content is being kept up to date throughout your website.
Integrated into the Control Panel is a simple website statistics feature, allowing you to view the amount of 'hits' your site receives. It records visits for both first-time and returning visitors with daily and monthly totals. It also provides information on how visitors arrive at your site, ie. a reffering link on another website or on-line directory perhaps.
